Damp-rated fixtures are generally intended for protected outdoor areas without direct water exposure. Wet-rated fixtures are designed for locations where direct exposure to rain or other water can occur. Confirm the individual model's rating for the exact installation location.
Also verify fixture dimensions, weight, projection, mounting method, clearances, voltage, light source, controls and any coastal or salt-air suitability. Hanging fixtures require particular attention to overhead clearance, canopy dimensions and the manufacturer's location limitations. Electrical installation and final compliance decisions should be handled by qualified professionals using the manufacturer's instructions.
